Our 8th graders will be building Rube Goldberg machines in the upcoming weeks. If you have any of the following materials laying around the house that you wouldn't mind us using, please send them with your student. Ideas include: small cardboard boxes (cereal or shoe), tubes (paper towel or TP), disposable cups, plastic bottles, building blocks, wooden dowels, craft supplies of any kind, dominoes, toy pieces, a variety of balls (ping pong, tennis, marbles, etc), really anything you think might work! Thank you in advance!

Here are a couple more ways to keep busy this summer!

ORIENTATION EVENT
Please join us on Thursday, May 2 from 6-7pm for Kellogg's 5th-to-6th grade transition. All families who will be new to Kellogg for the 2024-2025 school year are welcome to attend. During the orientation families will attend a presentation by Kellogg administration, students will receive their 24-25 music assignments and school supply lists, and there will be an opportunity for a self-guided tour throughout the building. Hope to see you then!

They're often the first faces you see when you walk into a building, and they're always ready and willing to help. Our schools and buildings wouldn't be the way they are without them. Thank you to all of our administrative professionals!

SAVE THE DATE!

All students who will be new to Kellogg in the fall are invited to attend Popsicles with the Principals in August! Research shows the more time students spend in the building prior to the start of the year the smoother the transition!
Free to attend. No need to register!

In our efforts to bridge the communication gap and further engage families in their student's education, RPS partners with TalkingPoints to introduce two-way communication into our school communities. Currently, our families are utilizing TalkingPoints in over 40 languages, helping families remove language barriers.
This school year, our staff and families have exchanged over two million messages through TalkingPoints. We hope to continue the conversation with you!

April is National Bilingual/Multilingual Learner Advocacy Month and a time to celebrate the linguistic diversity that bilingual and multilingual students and families bring to our school community. As a school district, we support our multilingual families with the help of multilingual and bilingual specialists who help break language barriers and strengthen communication between our staff, students, and school communities.
Meet our school's bilingual specialists in the photos on this post! Our bilingual families are invited to connect with our bilingual specialists for support with translations, interpretations, and connections with school and District administration to help enrich their students' education.

You see them opening milk cartons in the lunchrooms, reading with students in the libraries, helping out on playgrounds, chaperoning field trips, and helping office staff stuff envelopes -- public school volunteers are a force, and we are happy to celebrate them this week!
